Culture comes from our interactions, but values guide how we make decisions
Values get kind of a bad reputation because they often ring hollow. They become a system of which to judge behavior and culture of employees, tone police, and gate-keep.
A much better way to think of values is this:

The values that form the Alembic culture

Embrace curiosity
Proactively seek out knowledge and learn with excitement. Show genuine interest in how different departments work. Value diverse backgrounds and inquisitiveness.
Be data driven
Encourage experimentation and hypothesis generation. Avoid partiality like confirmation bias. Balance data with experience and distinguish between raw data and actionable intelligence.
Brevity is strength
Be concise yet rigorous, honest and direct in communication. Avoid unnecessary processes and meetings. Prioritize self-discipline over excessive rules.
Everyone teaches
Foster the ethos of proactive knowledge-sharing. By default, expect to find value in others’ knowledge and encourage cross-department training while respecting people’s time.
Build stuff & ship it!
Prioritize getting things done over perfection. Make tough decisions without overanalyzing. Ensure security and testing before shipping anything. Show tenacity and dedication to Alembic’s success.
Don’t blame, solve
Focus on solutions rather than problems. Move fast and accept that mistakes will happen. Avoid blaming individuals or teams, as it slows progress.
Maintain low egos
Believe in teamwork over “superheroes” or “rockstars.” Avoid jumping to conclusions or taking ideas as personal attacks. Prioritize the long-term success of the company over individual interests.
